Monday April 29

Today ... we did our TKAM routine:

Asked if anyone needed help with the homework. It's due tomorrow, and so ... I tried to help. Interestingly no one needed help.

After that we read all of Chapter 17 and into Chapter 18. In my copy, we got about half way through Mayell's testimony. We got Ch 17 and 18 questions 1, 3 and 4 for homework.

After that, we did a bit of work on the D2L site for the course -  get yourself logged in if you can!

I also asked a question and got this as a reaction:

Friday April 26

Today we did some pretty awesome stuff.

At least the English teacher thought it was pretty awesome.

Right, well we chatted about the work we journalled yesterday and we read to the end of Chapter 16.

We got Chapter 15 and 16 #3 and 4 for work.

And then ... we did the Powerpoint led discussion of "How did the teacher mark the Longer Answer Questions on the TKAM part 1 quiz?"

I had a couple of examples from students' work and we learned a bit about how to better answer Longer Answer questions both on quizzes and in Journal assignments.

Wednesday and Thursday April 25

Whoa, not sure what happened with yesterday's post.

I guess the digital dogs ate the teacher's post.

In any case, we are up to the end of Chapter 15 in the text and got

Chapter 12-14 #4, 5, and 6

Chapter 15-16 #1

For homework.

We then chatted about how to write a News Report in Chesser's class.

Tuesday April 23

Ok ... we read a lot today - we got to the end of Chapter 12 in the text. That is almost half way through this amazing book.

Good on ya!

We got #5 from Chapter 9-11
and #1 and 2 from Chapter 12-14 questions for homework.

Later on, we had  abit of a mini-lesson on Writing a News Report. This is going to be part of the end of unit big assignment that is done.

Thursday April 17

It was the motivational speaker today.

It was about a half hour - from the start of class to about 10:35. We got back into class and we read almost all of chapter 11 in the novel.

I'm cool, my mom said so.

Ok we are out ... See you Tuesday!

Tuesday April 16

Whoa. Halfway done this week already.

Hashtag cool.

Today I asked if anyone had any problems with any of the questions from yesterday. Crickets.

When I asked to see some individuals' writing, it was left at home.

Interesting way of keeping ahead of the teacher.

In any case, we read Chapter 10 today, with the story of Ol One-Shot Finch and Tim Johnson, the dog with rabies. That Harper Lee sure did know how to write a chapter.

We got the first four questions from the Chapter Questions on 9-1 to work on in class. I did also try to chat with everyone about their marks but was not possible due to pee breaks. I wish I made that up.

I'll try again tomorrow.

I also gave a quick preview of what and why we are doing a News Report for this unit. We are going to start working on that after Easter.

Monday April 15

So ... today. Yeah.

Lots away and we had to move forward in the novel and so we finished Chapter 9 in the book.

We got the rest of the questions from Chapter 6-8 for homework.

I did offer to show everyone their mark, but I’d already chatted with everyone in the class.

Wed and Thursday April 11

Whoa, I'm sorry.

I got off track with this blog.

I'm back.

Ok, well  ... we got to the end of Chapter 7 in the text and got at least two of the questions from the Chapter 6-8 section of the Unit Outline.

Man ... it was also Parent Teacher night on Thursday.

These busses say it all.

Tuesday April 9

So, I'm not there today.

Here are the questions to do for today:

Yesterday in class, there were a few words that in 2019 are considered foul language in the reading we did in Chapter 6.

1) What did you think about the fact that theywere in the book in the first place?

2) Shouldn't the publishers of the novel take those words out, of they want the book to be taught in schools in Ontario?

3) "Man, we should have read Between Shades of Grey by Ruta Sepetys." Agree or disagree with this statement, after perhaps clicking on the link to find out a little about the novel.

(This is the novel that I fell asleep while reading it)

Ok email your answers to the teacher at the email address written in red on the wall of the portable. Not my Nortre Dame account, please!

Ok On to Wednesday!

As an update, I got 8 out of 25 by the end of the class.

And handed in a journal, too.

Finally we read a bit of chapter 6 of the novel, too.

On to tomorrow!

Thursday April 4

If you are here, you are doing as I have asked. Good work.

Here are the questions I'd like you to answer in proper paragraph form and email your answers to me at:

Chesserhandin1 at gmail dot com.

What sort of life has Boo Radley had?

How would you react to living a life like that?

If you get those done, here is the rest of what I'd like you to take a peek at today:

Here is the webquest

and here is the "Entire Tkam Intro" ppt.

Wednesday April 3

Today we did some cool stuff.

Reminders about the quiz on April 5 and the stuff that is also due that same day.

We then chatted about the homework and we learned about the literary term "Dramatic Irony".

We read to the end of Chapter 5 and we worked a bit on the terms for the unit, too.

Monday and Tuesday April 2

I started sign ups for Parent Teacher night for our school. It will be on Thursday April 11.

What Scout got in the knot hole in Cpater 4

I'm glad no one did "funny" jokes on me yesterday. Meh,

By the end of today, we read to the end of Chapter 4 and got #3, 4 and 5 on the questions from Chapter 3-5 for homework.

We also chatted and took notes on Setting and Point of View of the novel. We will continue to work together to finish a study of the terms by the end of the week.

I'd be sick after this.
